matlab hangs if I resize figure window(s) while script is running

This has happened with various scripts - the script is running and is plotting in various figure windows. If I resize one of the figure windows during this process, matlab hangs and I have to kill it. Not sure whether matlab was trying to draw to the window that I resized or to some other window. Haven't tried to do any tests to nail it down. Any workarounds ?

Which Matlab vesion is concerned? Operating system? Are the graphics drivers up-to-date?

MATLAB Version: 9.9.0.1467703 (R2020b)

Operating System: Mac OS X Version: 10.15.7 Build: 19H1217

Java Version: Java 1.8.0_202-b08 with Oracle Corporation Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM mixed mode

My company pushes OS updates fairly regularly. So I'm guessing they are up to date. Computer is only 2 years old.

Then ver in the command window should show that it is installed.
