Genetic algorithm problem - "Cell contents reference from a non-cell array object"

I am having a major problem running old code in the new global optimisation toolbox. I am getting the error:"Cell contents reference from a non-cell array object". Does anyone know what this means and more importantly does anyone know what i can do about it. My code worked fine in the old genetic algorithm toolbox. Thanks

Somewhere in the code, it is attempting to use {} indexing of a variable that is not a cell array. We would need to see the traceback to say more about the problem and how to fix it.
