Replace non-corner value of ith ring from outside, with the adjacent values of the next ring.

x = [4 1 4 6 0 5

0 2 8 4 9 1

i = 2; %operate on second ring of matrix
y = [4 1 4 6 0 5

Why is your first example have an answer of
y = [1 6 7 4
5 6 7 7
1 6 7 4];
and not
y = [1 6 7 4
6 6 7 7
1 6 7 4];
Also tests 5 and 6 do not work
one is missing a " ] " and the other has some function that does not work
