Live Script exploring the sound of a drumming woodpecker.

This educational Live Script explores audio recordings of a drumming woodpecker. Bursts of regular taps are identified. The tap rate and burst length are explored. A sample mobile phone audio recording is included but the user is invited to use their own or study freely available recordings of different woodpecker species [1].

The analysis employs band pass filtering, peak finding, and clustering, and may be of interest to students and instructors in physics and other fields. 'Try this' suggestions and challenges are included for further exploration and assessment.

This script is similar to Geiger Counter Audio Explorer [2] but searches for bursts of sound pulses rather than random signals.
