A Split-Source Inverter (SSI) is a single-stage DC-AC inverter topology that combines the boosting capability
Why Use a Split-Source Inverter?
- It can boost and invert voltage in a single stage, unlike traditional two-stage systems.
- It's more compact and efficient than Z-source inverters because it uses fewer passive components.
- Especially suited for renewable energy systems, such as PV and fuel cells, where input voltage fluctuates.
🔧 Basic Circuit Description
🔹 Key Components
- 1 Inductor (L)
- 1 Capacitor (C)
- DC Source
- 3-Phase Inverter Bridge (6 switches)
- Diode (D) to direct energy flow
- Load (3-phase or resistive)
🔹 Topology
The SSI splits the source path with an inductor and capacitor in a unique configuration, allowing voltage boost capability by temporarily storing energy in the inductor and transferring it to the capacitor during switching.
