The design focuses on a single-phase power-factor-corrected (PFC) half-bridge boost converter operating in Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) with a voltage-follower approach. The converter takes a 100–140 V RMS AC input (rectified to 90–126 V) and delivers an adjustable DC output of 160–270 V, with a nominal value of 230 V at 200 W. The switching frequency is set at 50 kHz, and a 1:1 high-frequency transformer provides isolation. The inductor is sized at 145.8 µH to ensure DCM operation, while the output capacitor is chosen to maintain voltage ripple below 2%. The duty cycle varies between 0.52 and 0.95, depending on input and output voltage levels. A scaled triangular inductor current waveform is used in simulation to accurately reflect DCM behavior, resulting in a physically consistent efficiency below 100% and a power factor close to unity. The MATLAB Live Script simulates the time-domain waveforms of input voltage, output voltage, and inductor current, and confirms that output voltage ripple, efficiency, and power factor meet the design requirements, providing a reliable and realistic basis for further hardware or Simulink implementation.
