The Aerospace Blockset Maritime Applications Library provides Simulink blocks for modeling maritime vehicles and ocean environments. It supports two key use cases: marine engineers building low-fidelity simulations for early-stage design and operations analysis, and aerospace/defense engineers extending their system models into maritime domains for integrated multi-domain scenarios.
Use this library to:
- Model ocean environments with industry-standard wave spectra, currents, and seawater properties
- Simulate hydrostatic response of surface and subsurface vehicles
- Build low-fidelity marine digital twins for vessel design trade studies and operational analysis
- Integrate maritime models into multi-domain simulations spanning air, land, and sea platforms
Ocean Environment Blocks:
- Irregular Ocean Wave Spectrum - generate realistic sea states using standard spectral models (Pierson-Moskowitz, JONSWAP, Bretschneider)
- Pressure and Density - TEOS-10 compliant equations of seawater
- Temperature and Salinity - depth-dependent ocean properties for subsurface operations
- Synthetic Seafloor Generator - procedural terrain models for bathymetric environments
- Subsea Altitude - above-ground-level computation relative to terrain
Marine Vehicle Dynamics:
- 6-DOF Hydrostatic Response - buoyancy and restoring forces for standard hull shapes (cuboid, cylinder, sphere)
Applications:
- Hydrostatic simulation of surface and subsurface vehicles in ocean environments
- Subsurface vehicle operations with trajectory planning APIs
- Hydrostatic trade studies and vessel stability analysis for surface and subsurface hull forms
- Autonomous surface and underwater vehicle simulation in realistic ocean conditions
- Multi-domain mission scenarios combining maritime, aerial, and ground platforms
- Vessel operational analysis including response to sea state and environmental loads
