Numerical modeling and analysis of the radial polymer casting in cylindrical coordinates

Radial unsteady state heat transfer analysis in cylindrical coordinates with numerical approach

Al momento, stai seguendo questo contributo

Polymer casting is a general expression reflecting the operations carried out on polymeric materials to increase their utility. In fact, during such processes, polymeric raw materials convert into useful finished products. In the case of rubber casting, which is the final preparation step, cross linkage of the polymer chains occurs with the aid of sulfur promoters coupled with the thermal operation. Here, the sample is cylindrical where a constant temperature is applied to its wall. Rubber casting is considered as an unsteady state heat transfer problem, and the explicit scheme of finite difference approach is applied to solve the governing partial differential equation (PDE) in one dimensional (radial) cylindrical coordinates. As the result, the time-dependent temperature distribution within the rubber is analyzed considering various sample sizes and casting temperatures.
