Sometimes it's faster to edit MATLAB code in external editors. For example for multiline selection or regular search/replace, there's still no such functions in MATLAB editor (only something in live editor at the moment).

You can assign this function to some keyboard shortcut and call it from any line of the code in editor - the file would be opened in notepad++ (npp) at the same line.

You can change npp to any other editor in the same way.
