how can i segment a irregular polygonal region from a gray scale image.
'roipoly' returns only binary image. I want to cut a region from the gray scale image and put it in a black background.

We would like to feed the extracted features of the chromosomes like centromeric index, long arm and short arm length to the nonlinear classifiers such as SVM , similarity and fuzzy. we need help for coding the non linear classifiers ?
we don't know how to exactly proceed after this ?

i have located the endpoints and the junction of two lines in the image. i wanted to calculate parameters like length,entropy,mean to each possible segments like AE,AD,AB,etc. how can i separate or select a particular line segment using endpoint info
