I want save multiple images with their feature extraction in a MySQL database. Whose can help me?

How can I read multiple images in MATLAB, which they have different extension such as(a.tif, b.jpg, c.bmp and so on)?
I want read a number image that have various extension in one folder and then apply canny edge detection on all images.
