How to activate license using trial period?

I've recently installed Matlab's 2021b trial version. Not long after this installation, I bought an individual license, but haven't yet activated it. Is it possible to activate the license with the trial version already installed or should I uninstall the trial version, download the licensed individual version and then activate it?

Moreover, if I need to uninstall the trial version and download the licensed version, can I activate the licensed version during installation by providing my serial number/activation key or is there something else I need to do?
