- Opt for clear and descriptive names for your variables instead of using cryptic or abbreviated terms. This practice will help make your model more readable and self-explanatory.
- Incorporate text annotations in your Stateflow chart to help explain the purpose and role of significant variables. This can serve as a direct form of documentation within the diagram.
- Also, for a comprehensive overview of your variables, including their descriptions, the 'Model Explorer' in Simulink is an excellent tool. It allows you to view all symbols and their descriptions in one single interface.
Display the information of variables in Matlab (Stateflow) by mouseover

Hello everybody,
I got a question about a Matlab project using Stateflow/Simulink.
The project is quite big and we use plenty variables named like the i/o at the SPS (e.g E_0_5) or something like that.
In the Symbols table I can use the property inspector and connect a description to the variables (e.g. the E_0_5 being the Start-Button). Unfortunatly the description is not showed in stateflow unless I go into the properties again. Is there any chance to enable that a mouseover on a variable in stateflow does show the description or something like that?
Thanks in advance!
HaPa

Hi Patrick,
I believe there is currently no option to enable a mouseover feature to display variable descriptions directly within the Stateflow diagram. However, there are several alternative strategies you might consider to simplify your workflow:
Hope this will be helpful!
