How to take data from plot in a pdf book?

Is there a way to extract the values in a plot from a book?I mean there are some plots in a book and i would like to take the values from this plot (offcurse the exact values) and plot them in MATLAB to compare them with my values.It could be done visually but i was wondering if there is a way to do it?
