Input Data for Distribution Fitter

Hi,
I have a few different vectors that I have displayed as histograms. Each are individual column vectors of type double with lengths ranging from 800-15,000. I am trying to fit the histograms with the distribution fitter. Each variable is identified in the data menu drop down, but when I select the variable, the data preview on the right indicates that I have "Invalid selections".
This is also true for built in data sets such as "carsmall". I can identify the variables, but not select them. Am I missing a tool box? Are my data sets formatted incorrectly?
Anything helps thanks!

The carsmall.mat file is sample data in the Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox. Do you have a license for that toolbox?

Sorry for the delayed reply, I do have a license for the Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox.
The MAT file contents are just arrays of double so I don't know what would be going on. Can you try it in a more recent version of MATLAB, make sure your R2017B version has all updates available, and then post more detailed steps with screenshots showing what is happening?
I checked the matlab version and all files were up to date and all tool boxes were installed. I restarted my computer and reloaded carsmall. It works in the overall workspace. However, if I am debugging a function and try to run the distribution fits as I was trying before it cannot load the data sets for distribution fitting. I believe that is the error.
Can you post the code and the error messages you are getting running the code?
