How to get the main arcade of the vessel?

Hi everyone, i have extracted vessel tree from the optic disc.

How can i remove the branches and only get the main arcade?

Maybe try bwskel to get the skeleton, and bwareafilt to extract only blobs of a certain area (size).

How can i get the location of the intersect points as shown in circle?

This is my code but can't work:

s=regionprops(bw,'Centroid')

centroids = cat(1, s.Centroid);

x=centroids(1,1)

You can just extract the mask at the level of the red line and call find

intersectingColumns = find(mask(redLineY, :));

That will get you the column number of all the places where your red line crosses your binary image.

Hi Image Analyst, i think i didn't make my question clear. Sorry about that.

Actually the red line is just an indicator line that i edit using other app to show the y-axis.

If let say that the y is located at 1000, how can i know the value of x axis that intersect with that y=1000? (It can be many of x values that intersect with y=1000).
