Help needed with tensor voting for road extraction.

Hi,

I am implementing 'Tensor-Cuts: A simultaneous multi-type feature extractor and classifier and its application to road extraction from satellite images 'by Charalambos Poullis for road extraction in my GIS assignment. But I am not getting to understand many terms explained in the paper related to tensor encoding. I tried the existing tensor encoding framework published in matlab central, but was unable to correlate to my problem.

Could anyone help me with a good explanation for tensor encoding that a beginner like me can understand.
