Can I use the Simscape Battery feature with only Simscape and Simscape Electrical products?

I added the "Simscape Electrical" option when I bought Simscape, but I didn't know and forgot to add the "Simscape Battery" option.
I would like to do modeling and simulation related to BMS algorithms (SOC, SOH, Cell Balancing, etc.)
However, it is difficult to purchase "Simscape Battery" again due to internal procedures.
Can I implement the algorithms and functions I want without the "Simscape Battery" option?

Hello, it is possible to do all of those things with Simulink and Simscape Electrical, but you will have to build everything from scratch. In addition, it is much faster to create battery models with Simscape Battery than Simscape Electrical. The Simscape Battery product will greatly reduce your development time and have existing examples of all of those algorithms for you to start with. I don't know how complicated your internal process is to get more software, but in the long run, I imagine having Simscape Battery will save you a lot of time.
In the meantime, please look at this project: https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/36019-battery-modeling This should get you started with your existing toolboxes while you decide if you want to purchase Simscape Battery.

Joel

But the link you sent
When I downloaded "Battery Modeling" from the site and ran it, an error occurred saying that the following additional add-ons must be installed to run.
- Curve Fitting Toolbox
- DSP System Toolbox
- Simulink Design Optimization
- Symbolic Math Toolbox
However, the above add-ons are not free, but all add-ons that require additional purchase.
In my company, even if it is a small cost, I cannot freely process and purchase expenses, and it takes a lot of procedures and time to make a purchase.
So, do I need to purchase not only "Simscape Battery" but also the 4 add-ons listed above?
And in order to install "Battery Modeling" of the link you sent, is "Battery Modeling" essential enough to install 4 additional add-ons together to help develop BMS algorithms?
The thing that worries me the most is that it does not end with purchasing only the above five, but I am very concerned that I will have to purchase new add-ons at additional cost in the future for the development of the BMS algorithm.
The DSP system toolbox missing might be a problem. The others shouldn't be necessary to use the models in that example. I think you should still be able to open the .slx files and see how the models are put together, but there may be a block or two that are missing because you don't have the DSP system toolbox. There might be some models that don't require it, but it's the closest good exapmle I can get you that doesn't require Simscape battery. In general, we recommend having a call with our sales team to detemrine exactly which toolboxes would be useful for your work. You can still design your BMS algorithms without these tooboxes though, it just might be hard to find existing exapmles that are useful as most of our workflows take advantage of additional toolboxes.
Thanks for your reply
So, is it okay if I ask the sales team to add only the 5 add-ons below?
Is there any additional need for BMS algorithm development?
- Simscape Battery
- Curve Fitting Toolbox
- DSP System Toolbox
- Simulink Design Optimization
- Symbolic Math Toolbox
And is it possible to change the add-on I already purchased to the above 5 add-ons rather than paying an additional fee?
Lastly, I would appreciate it if you could give me your sales team email address.
you might not need all of those toolboxes.
this form is a good place to start in haivng MathWorks have the correct representative talk to you since it is based on geographic location: https://www.mathworks.com/company/aboutus/contact_us.html
I don't think you need the symbolic math toolbox unless you know exactly what you would use it for.
Simulink Design Optimization is a really powerful tool that I would recommend, but you don't HAVE to have it. It has a dependency on the optimization toolbox. you can see product dependencies here: https://www.mathworks.com/support/requirements/product-requirements-platform-availability-list.html but the sales rep will help with this.
Curve fitting is nice and very cheap, but again, not necessary. Simscape Battery is the most important toolbox to make sure you have, and DSP system toolbox will be very important if you modle the BMS.
