Unresponsive Curve Fitter app in Ubuntu
Mostra commenti meno recenti
I have been using MATLAB's curve fitter app in several Ubuntu machines with previous releases, without any issues. For the first time, in the latest R2022a release of MATLAB I am having problems with the curve fitter in two ways: the app GUI seems unresponsive when trying to select data or select a fit type. When I try to click on a element in a dropdown menu (for example, the select data window), it may select correctly, or nothing may happen. It seems like no reasoning behing why it may or may not select the data I am clicking on. A similar experience occurs for the selection of the fit type. Clicking on it may or may not work, and it seems quite arbitrary.
A secondary issue is that some variables in the workspace may not even appear is selectable in the dropdown menu. These are very small arrays (1D, 5 elements) without any complex structure.
In general I am having no issues with MATLAB in Ubuntu in this machine, expect for the curve fitter app.

I am having the same issue after upgrading. For some odd reason, clicking a bunch more times with my trackpad instead of mouse occasionally will let me select from the dropdown. I also get similar issues selecting the textboxs when running the matlab installer gui. Let me know if anyone finds a fix

Same issue, except it does not work at all.

I am having the same issue. The curve Fitter opens with curveFitter(x,Cm) and fits my data with a 1st degree polynomial, but I cannot change the order of the polynomial nor can I try to fit a custom equation to the data because nothing happens when I click on "Custom Equation".

I am having the same issue with MATLAB R2022b. Also, when I start MATLAB, I am getting this error: "Gtk-Message: 13:55:35.007: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module" ". Do you think is there any chance that this is causing it?

Same issue as everyone here, but on R2023a. I resolved the canberra-gtk-module error, but cftool is still unresponsive.

This issue persists in latest 2024a as well! So frustrating.

Hi Javier,
The issue you are facing is related to GNOME desktop environments. MathWorks has acknowledged this in the following bug report: https://www.mathworks.com/support/bugreports/1797911
Although the Curve Fitter Tool is not explicitly mentioned in the report, it appears to be related to the same bug. I tried the workarounds mentioned in the report, and it is now working properly for me. You should consider trying the workarounds mentioned in the report.
I hope this helps!
