Hello, I'm using the online MATLAB interface with a school license, and I'd like to utilize Simscape Multibody Link to upload a Solidworks file and simulate the model. How can I achieve this on the online platform? I tried installing the latest Linux (glnxa64) version, but it didn't work. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Hi Bosnjak,
From what I gather, "Simscape Multibody Link" plugin can only be installed and used on desktop versions of MATLAB. This is because it integrates directly with the Windows registry and SolidWorks application which is not possible on the online platform. Furthermore, the plugin installation and model export must be done on a local machine running Windows OS with a compatible MATLAB version.
A possible workaround can be:
  1. Using the plugin to export your SolidWorks model to an XML file, along with other geometry files.
  2. Uploading these exported files to MATLAB Online.
  3. Use the “smimport” function to import the model into “Simscape Multibody” for simulation.
Refer to the following documentation link for details on how to install the "Simscape Multibody Link" Plugin:
Hope it helps.
