When I click on a line in the Editor and scroll the mouse cursor up or down, MATLAB automatically selects and highlights across lines as in the screenhot enclosed. This started to happen only recently. I wonder if this has anything to do with the latest macOS update 15.1 or the latest MATLAB update 224b.

Technical Support's reply: "Unfortunately, this behavior is not a bug. This is an enhancement and intentional change made in R2024a to make the MATLAB Editor behave similarly to other source code editors (e.g. in VS Code this is called "Scroll Beyond Last Line"). The idea is to be able to write at the end of the file without the content shifting all the time on the screen. Currently, there is no way to disable it." My response: "This doesn’t sonse to me at all. I don’t have anything to write there and hence all the time I have to scroll more than I am supposed to."

Ensure that your mouse button isn't stuck. I haven't seen this issue but if it continues to occur after closing and reopening MATLAB and after you've ruled out any mouse issues, feel free to contact tech support.

I'm having the exact same issue, and it's really annoying. Here's my set-up: I'm using R2024a Update 6 and running macOS Sequoia 15.2 on a Mac Mini M1 with a Magic Mouse. Whenever I scroll in the editor, it automically highlights lines of text above or below where my cursor is depening on the direction I scroll. It's extremely annoying! I haven't found a solution yet but hoping one comes soon....

I submitted a complaint to the technical support. My impression is that a fix will not be rolled out on its own but will be part of the next release. Which is a lot of waiting. I am surporsed how MATLAB can roll out a release with such a serious bug. There must be hunderds of people who should be experiencing this problem. I do not know if MATLAB monitors this forum but it might be worth to submit the same complaint so that MATLAB gets to know that it is affecting users.
