Hello,
I'm looking for alternatives for simplifying some biological network models I have in simbiology (the actual way this simplification will be is still TBD, but the overall goal is to be able to reduce the number of eqs. and parameters to facilitate data fitting, preferably in a supervised automated way), and I was wondering if there's any way of using this Model Order Reduction toolbox for simbiology models.
Thank you,
Paulo

Hi Paulo,
The model order reduction functionality that you point to is limited to linear time-invariant systems. Most SimBiology models are nonlinear, so this is unlikly to be useful.
I asked some of my colleagues, and the only idea I've heard so far is to look at an open source tool called STRIKE-GOLDD. (We don't have any personal experience with it though.) Also note that the tool requires the Symbolic Math Toolbox, and it doesn't have any SimBiology integration. So I don't know if that will really meet your needs.
If you do find this or any other tools or algortihms to be useful, feel free to reach out to me or MathWorks Technical Support, so we can log an enhancement request. I'm a developer on the SimBiology team. We've heard very generally that our users would like model reduction, but we don't yet know whether any specific tool/algorithm would be generally useful for our users.
