Splitting up a spline created using CSAPS

Hi,
Could anyone please give me some pointers. I have a spline in 2-space that I have created using CSAPS in the curve fitting toolbox. The problem I have is that I would like to split it up into equal length sections.
I have tried using ppval and fval with linspace but the problem is that the sections aren't of equal length.
Any help or clues would be greatly appreciated Thank you
To add some context, *I need to use a smoothing spline because my data is noisy *I am working with very large datasets (~8000 points per spline)so thin plate approximation is not an option
