Can't install MATLAB 2011a on 64-bit Ubuntu 11.04

I tried installing MATLAB using the following commands in terminal:
sudo mount ~/Desktop/ml2011au.iso /media/matlab -o loop
/media/matlab/install
but I keep getting this error:
/tmp/mathworks_31396/java/jre/glnxa64/jre/bin/java: 1: Syntax error: word unexpected (expecting ")")
Can someone help?

Installation questions are usually directed to the Mathworks, which gives free telephone support to installation issues, even for student editions.
