Using xlsread to select multiple rows/columns

I was wondering if its possible to use the xlsread(filename,-1) function to select multiple rows of data with the rows not being consecutive. For example, I want to be able to select row1 from the excel sheet, skip row2 and select row 3. It appears MATLAB cannot make the distinction between multiple selections even though it allows the user to make multiple selctions. As it currently stands i can make the selection but the xlsread function will only output the first row of data.
