How to display maximum intensity projection for a set of dicom images in a GUI?

I have created a gui which displays a set of 764 PET images of DICOM format in three different axes. I wish to display the maximum intensity projection of the image that we selected with mouse before, by clicking on the MIP push button in a seperate window(by using figure,). How do we connect MIP button and MIP of the image?
