Detect letter in image

I am trying to determine the letter displayed in the image, at any orientation. Multiple copies of the letter will be displayed.

Detecting the letter in the image using MSER features is not working, since the image may be at an angle.

I tried using the Hough transform to determine the orientation of the text, but this method does not predictably orient the letters to 0degrees, instead, the letters may be oriented to 90degrees. This is because the individually spaced letters do not present a clear line like a line of text would.

I would appreciate advice on extracting the letter displayed in the image.
