codec error when using Matlab in Linux

Dear all, I am using Matlab on Linux. I am getting the following error:
ErrorMessage : The file requires the following codec(s) to be installed on your system: video/x-xvid
Any idea,and help regarding solving this issue is really appreciated.

Hi, saharsahar : I have encountered this problem same as you. Then I install the ffmpeg as well xvid video decoder, and the ffmpeg can decode videos using command line, but the matlab still reports the same error like before.How can you solver your problem. You need an Xvid compatible program. This is something outside the control of MathWorks.
There might already be a program available for your Linux distribution. You can also look at http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html which has links to Debian and SuSE configured versions.
Warning: Xvid uses technology that is patented by software patents, and so in some countries use of Xvid could be a legal violation. USA is one country that recognizes the concept of Software Patents. (Canada wavers on the matter.)
