matlab 2016b freezes

Have been running Mallab 2015b at home for a year and just upgraded to 2016b at the beginning of the year. It now freezes my MAC when MATLAB boots up and I have to shut down the computer and restart the computer to use it. I tried downloading the latest version of JAVA but Java now freezes up my computer. Please help.

Also, check if there are any crash logs generated while launching MATLAB. If you are seeing any crash logs or any other error messages while launching MATLAB from MAC terminal, please contact MathWorks support .
