What is the role of a classifier in brain tumor detection from MRI?

I used one type of clustering method to segment the MRI and several type of features are extracted from the segmented image. Then i like to use classifier (I know that the classifier can classify the tumor into malignant or benign). But can i detect the tumor region from segmented MRI by using classifier (based on the feature vector)?
