Extracting data using QXF2MAT.M

I'm currently trying extract current velocity/current direction data from QXF files for my thesis. I'm not very experienced with Matlab if i'm being honest , i'm used one or twice for assignments this year; however that's it.

I've attached below the matlab file i need use to extract the data and datafile in a zipped folder. I know i'm asking for alot but i really don't know how to extract the data at all..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
