How to count cells from a flouescence microscopic images?

Hello i am new to matlab and I was wondering if someone can help me in using a simple code to count cells stained in an IHC protocol. I have used image J but it is not as accurate since most of the cells are overlapping. Is there a way to automate this process? Please any help is appreciated thank you.
