Optimizing a multivariable function with Fmincon function with asymmetrical variables

I am optimizing a single objective multivariable function using Fmincon function. My variables have different units and different boundaries for linear and nonlinear constraints. My question is, how can I optimize this function using Fmincon while my variables are not asymmetrical? How can I set the boundaries for each of the variables? All the examples in the Matlab help or on the Mathwork documentations are symmetrical.
Any insight on this issue would be truly appreciated.

Sorry, I do not understand what you are asking. To me, the bounds and other kinds of constraints that Optimization Toolbox solvers support have nothing to do with symmetry, so I do not understand what you are asking.
Please give an example, in equations or words, of what you want that you think you cannot express in toolbox syntax.
