The list of MATLAB functions supported for HDL Code generation are in the documentation. The R2017a list is at http://www.mathworks.com/help/releases/R2017a/hdlcoder/ug/functions-supported-for-hdl-code-generation-categorical-list.html .

For functions not on this list, you will need to decompose the function into a version that only uses supported functions. This may not always be straightforward to do, in a hardware-friendly fashion.
