Why does the Find What: and Replace With: history disappear/get deleted sporadically???

In NORMAL Matlab operations in editing, in the same session, with a few files being edited, the Find What: and Replace With: history gets deleted sporadically. Poooof! That certainly appears to be a bug, but I need to find out if the bug is in my head or in the product. Please inform users how to work around this rather ugly 'feature'.

Are all the entries in find/replace options disappeared? Normally, MATLAB editor stores 20 previous entries from history and deletes them in FIFO order. Which version of MATLAB are you using? Can you think of any operations performed that correlate with the issue?

This problem may have a tie to use of multiple windows open while editing, where windows are open on different monitors, on a Mac. It might also have something to do with some sort of conflict with 'find in files', though it does not really happen all the time so tht I notice it distinctly as a tie in.

The multi-window issue is clear. It looks like Matlab is trying to get tricky. Matlab seems to have a feature where a different find dialog exists on each screen. That feature does not work well. For instance, I can close the find box on one monitor, and switch to focus on a different .m editor window on another screen, and all of a sudden a find dialog pops up on that screen, but not on the prime (the one I was originally on with a find dialog) screen. This gets incredibly confusing because it appears that it is the mere movement of focus that activated the appearance of the find dialog on the second screen. For example, it is very consistent that I might have a find dialog open (or even hidden) on a screen (say #2), and I want to copy text from another .m on screen #1 into a .m on screen #2, and the .m on #2 is in the front. Normally, I would anticipate that I could do a copy on #1, move my cursor to the .m on #2, and paste at the location that had been set in the file in #2. Nope. The text pastes into the find dialog that somehow mysteriously gets the focus when I get to screen #2 with the cursor / mouse hover. Activating that .m window on #2 first causes the activation of the find dialog on #2. Because of that, I believe that the history of the find dialog on #1 (where there is NO find dialog, and thus null history) is populating the history of the find dialog in #2 (thus erasing it). Bad feature.

I think that every user of MATLAB would probably want the Editor of the App Designer to behave exactly as it does in the “regular” Matlab code editor. The disappearance of the search history and the way updating the search text now behaves (before one just had to highlight some text and click the “find” icon to update the text to search for) is quite annoying. I cannot see one single improvement in the new “find and replace” GUI as I have it in the app designer that came with version 2021A.

I am able to reproduce the issue. Thank you for the detailed description.

It seems to be a bug in the MATLAB Editor component. It will be considered for a fix in a future release of MATLAB software. Thank you for reporting this issue.
