Why does MATLAB Compiler hang in "Creating Binaries"?

I try to compile my code into a standalone application with the Application Compiler. It hangs on "Creating Binaries" and never finishes. I have tried "mcc" but it also hangs.

The issue here seems to be with the "startup.m" file. "startup.m" is executed at the beginning of the compilation process. If the code in "startup.m" hangs, then the compilation will also hang.
Please check that commands that wait for user input are not included in "startup.m".
