how to find amplitude of an image ?

i am trying to find the amplitude of an image ist it correct to just take abs value or how can i find amplitude of an image

  • What does amplitude mean in this context? Intensity?
  • Is it a grayscale image?
  • Why abs? There are no negatives in the image matrix (except perhaps some specific color space)
