Scatter Plot, Color on Z not differentiated as expected

I have a dataset of ~150k pts, xyz. Range of z is pretty broad, as illustrated below. I'd like a color map of z, not just shades of blue. I know I must be missing something obvious!

Experiment with scatter3 instead of scatter. (If you want a 2D view, you can do that with the view function.)

The default colormap should show different colors as a function of ‘z’. Also, consider experimenting with the caxis function.
