Circular Polarization Antenna Designer

Hi All,

I would like to design a circularly polarized patch antenna using the Antenna Designer (Antenna Toolbox 3.1). I've noticed that there is a 'circular' drop down box filter when starting a new design. In the patch family, the only patch left is the circular patch but it doesn't seem to support circular polarizations. I was hoping to design a microstrip (rectangular element and ground plane) and a helical (axial mode). After looking at the helical design, it appears I can only specify the winding direction and it seems it has no effect other than the rendering of the image. There is no cross polarisation analysis etc.

Can any body tell me if they have successfully designed circularly polarized antennas using matlab, it appears that the application is quite lacking in features.

Did you ever find an answer to this? I too am trying to design a circularly polarized patch antenna, and I can't figure out how to model the polarization of the signal pattern. Other antenna modeling tools (e.g., MMANA, 4NEC, etc.) will model both horizontal and vertical aspects of an antenna's radiation, and I was really hoping I could get Matlab to do the same...
