Any way to get "Invalid or deleted object" error message to include which object was invalid?

Example:

Invalid or deleted object.

Error in  *  (line 70)
            AB.w = obj2.w*obj1.w - dot(obj2.v, obj1.v);

It would be useful to know if AB, obj2, obj1, or one of the associated properties is the deleted object without having to go into the debugger. I believe MATLAB should know which object it errored out trying to access, so is there a way to get MATLAB to tell me this info?

As far as I am aware Matlab errors give as much information as they are able to give (from the perspective of us, as users being able to manipulate them. Obviously Mathworks could include more information in error messages if they wished to). I don't think there is an extra level of information that you can 'switch on'.

Theoretically you could create your own message in the specific case that would tell you what you wanted in a try-catch statement, but the effort required would not be sensible most of the time, unless this is an error you keep getting at that point on normal running of your program

Well it's definitely not AB, since that would be created automatically even if it did not exist. So it's either obj1 or obj2.

Perhaps you didn't like my answer below because I asked you to use the debugger and you said "without having to go into the debugger." Why? What's the problem with using the debugger. Most of us use it heavily and find it useful. I use it literally hours every day.

IA, I didn't dislike your answer, I posted the question on my way out to lunch and hadn't returned until now. It appears that it is the correct and almost certainly easiest way to access this info so I've accepted it for others who happen upon this thread. The question is not born out seeing problems with the debugger, but out of curiosity about the error message. Like I said, MATLAB almost certainly "knows" which object in that statement caused the error and I think the message would be more useful if that were included. If this were the case, instead of running a piece of code, getting an "Invalid or deleted object" error, going to that line, adding a break, rerunning the code then inspecting, I would get an error that says "Object 'obj1' invalid or deleted' (followed by the location where the code failed, as per usual) and jump right to addressing why obj1 (or obj2 or whatever variable) is invalid here without the debugging steps.

Send a feature enhancement request to them. Several years ago we'd simply get an "index out of bounds" error if you tried to access m(9) when m had only 5 elements. Now the error message is more explicit and tells us what index you tried to access and the length of the vector, so it is possible to have improved error messages.

Set a breakpoint there, at that line. Then hover the cursor over obj1 and obj2. If they are defined, you'll see a pop up with their value, and you'll see them listed in the workspace panel. If they are not defined, there will be no popup upon hovering, and no variable listed in the workspace panel.
