trouble with codegen and 'instrumentation'

the question is in the attached PDF. I tried to cut-and-paste the text from a Word doc (and from Notepad) into the Mathworks interface, but 'paste' was not available for some reason. So I saved the question in the PDF. It's too long for this lazy person to re-type...
