Boxplot x-axis not numerically ordered

I have two arrays, one with a discreet number of X-values, and one with a vide range Y-values. When I make a boxplot it groups the Y-values corresponding to the X (good) but the X values aren't displayed in numerical order, they appear along the axis in the order they are listed (for example: 3,6,2,4,8 rather than 2,3,4,6,8). Can I change this? how?
