Adding cells of different size

Hi,

I have 2 different cells like following:

Cell_1 = {C1 C2 C3}

Cell_2 = {C4 C5}

How do I get the sum of each elements in each cell like this:

Cell_3 = {C1+C4 C1+C5 C2+C4 C2+C5 C3+C5} ?

Is there a simple MATLAB command to do so?

Double array. C1 .... C5 are -let's say- 10x10 matrix with double element.

Do you need to have the data in cells? If the cells all contain arrays of the same size you could easily make them into 3D double arrays, which are, IMO, generally easier to work with.

You currently have your data organized like this:

Cell_1 = {A1 A2 A3};
Cell_2 = {A4 A5};

To put it into a 3D array, it would be like so:

A(:,:,1) = A1;
A(:,:,2) = A2;
A(:,:,3) = A3;
B(:,:,1) = A4;
B(:,:,2) = A5;

If you are generating the different cell arrays using a for loop, then you can easily index the loop to put the arrays into the sheets of the 3D array.

for i = 1:3;
    A(:,:,i) = ...; % However you are generating your arrays
end    

Once you have the data into 3D arrays, I don't know about 'simple' ways of getting this to do the additions you want, but you can always use loops. Part of the thought process needs to include how you want your data organized.

What happened to C3+C4 ???

I forgot that yes. There should be C3+C4.

But Bob has already suggested to split into 3D array. It worked. Thanks.
