The question about DC component!

There is an one-dimension discrete signal and I want to calculate its power spectrum, follwed by some other calculations.
However, after I removed the DC component (subtracted by the mean of the signal) and windowed the signal without DC,
the magnitude of 0 frequency is very small so that I cannot implement the following other calculations.
Therefore, I wonder if it is possible not to remove the DC compoent, and what is the negative effect of retain the DC component?
In case not possible, are there any other approaches to deal with this situation?
Thanks a lot!

Removing the DC component is useful in showing the other peaks in the Fourier transform of your signal, if there is a very high DC offset in compatrison to the other peaks. Otherwise, for most applications, it is not necessary to remove it. If you want to retain the DC component, do so.
