Error message "Unexpected MATLAB operator."

I have a code with 26 unique functions in it. On the 18th function Matlab returns the error message "Unexpected MATLAB operator." and the remaining "function"s are underlined red. This was not happening before, no edits were made to the code when it started happening. All the inputs are correct for the functions.
