Does the PDE Tolbox come standard with matlab

I just wanted to know if the PDE Toolbox is something I have to add on to a copy of matlab, or if it comes standard. I need to use it for transient heat transfer analysis.

Hi Patrick,
The student version includes simulink and about 10 toolboxes, but as far as I know, if you are a normal honest individual you get no toolboxes thown in. Your'e on your own.
As the number of toolboxes N keeps increasing, large-number statistics comes into play, and the relative utility of each one goes as something like 1/sqrt(N). Maybe someday you will have your chioice of a couple of toolboxes, kind of like two side dishes and a dessert at the restaurant.
Yeah I was afraid of that. I honestly don't need many toolboxes, but the PDE toolbox and Curve Fitting toolbox are essential. Unfortunately I cannot use a student version anymore, since I graduated last July. I don't mind paying for Matlab or the toolboxes, but it does get quite expensive, especially if you want to upgrade to new versions every year or so. I think a perpetual license of only the base Matlab program is like $2150, and toolboxes added after that are between $100 and $500 each.
Depending what you want to use it for a Home Use license may be an option.

It would depend on your license. You can explore options here. Generally speaking, if you are purchasing your own copy of MATLAB, then PDE Toolbox (as well as any other toolbox) is something you would have to purchase in addition.
