Destination folder external disk ”unable to write to selected folder”

I am trying to install r2020a on an external hard drive. I’ve selected the destination folder /Volumes/External but it says ”Unable to write to the selected folder”. How can I fix this? The external hard drive is a wd passport for Mac

From my understanding, you are facing an issue while installing MATLAB to an external disk.
