How do I verify the integrity of a download from MathWorks.com?

I have downloaded the ISO image/ installer/ update packages for installation and I want to check the file's checksum to verify the integrity of the file. How can I get the file's checksum?

The checksum is a sequence of numbers and letters that you can use to check that your copy of a downloaded file is identical to the original. If the checksum does not match what is displayed on the website, the file may have been corrupted or tampered with and a new version should be downloaded.
When downloading a file from https://www.mathworks.com/downloads/, for R2024a and newer the SHA256 checksum is displayed, for R2023b and older the MD5 checksum is displayed.
The following command-line utilities can be used to calculate the checksum of the given file. Change the file name (in italics) as applicable.

For R2024a and newer downloads:

  • Windows: Open Command Prompt and run the following command. Make sure to put "SHA256" in capital letters.
    CertUtil -hashfile matlab_R2024a_Windows.exe SHA256
  • Linux: Open a terminal and run the following command.
    sha256sum matlab_R2024a_Linux.zip
  • macOS: Open a Terminal and run the following command.
    shasum -a 256 matlab_R2024a_macOSAppleSilicon.dmg

For R2023b and older downloads:

  • Windows: Open Command Prompt and run the following command. Make sure to put "MD5" in capital letters.
    CertUtil -hashfile R2018b_win64_dvd1.iso MD5
  • Linux: Open a terminal and run the following command.
    md5sum R2018b_glanxa64_dvd1.iso
  • macOS: Open a Terminal and run the following command.
    md5sum matlab_R2018b_maci64.dmg
It may take a few minutes for the commands to calculate the checksum.
Only a License Administrator can download the ISO and view the hash of them on MathWorks.com.

Do you also provide checksums for the large offline documentation files? We could not find them here https://www.mathworks.com/help/releases/R2025a/install/ug/install-documentation-on-offline-machines.html
I recently had a checksum error with an offline installation file after an internal file transfer.
Is there any reason not to make the checksums of these files publicly available, rather than just for license administrators during download?
