Identification of human upper body from photo and overlaying an image

For my project i am attempting to extract the human body from an image, identify edges and using feautures such as shoulders to map the geometry, overlay an image to indicate electrode positions. please find attatched image below and an example of my required outcome:

I have tried to detect the skin using RGB colour mapping and edge detection but im stuck on how to extract the shoulder positions.

The computer vision toolbox has functionalities to detect people in the upright position as well as faces and upper bodies. You can read about these in the MATLAB Documentation. Refer to the links below for a starting point -
