How ode-family functions approximate solution at specified tspan values?

I'm trying to model a software package DE solving scheme using Matlab. I need to know how ode-family functions approximate the answer at time values specified by user. Is it merely a simple interpolation or what?

You can use the debugger to find this out by your own. Simply set a breakpoint in your code and step through the integrator, when the specified time is met.
